Hello! Happy October! My updates are below.

  • I got more work done on my original writing this month, which I’m very happy about. I also did more reading, too.

  • I published two more fanfics, which you can read on my HongyueG accounts.

That’s it for this month! You are welcome to share your writing and general updates in the comments. This month, I encourage you to support The Needle of Hope, which raises money for Omar to tailor clothes for children in Gaza, the Sudan Solidarity Collective, which is raising money to support food distribution in El Fashir, and the Ohketeau Cultural Center, which is a Native-led cultural center that supports Indigenous people in Central and Western Massachusetts. For more resources and organizations to support, please look here.

Hello, all! I hope you had a wonderful September! My updates are below.

  • Almost all of my creative energy has been going to fanfic recently, but I did manage to get some work done on my original writing. I wish I had done some more reading though, so hopefully next month, my attention will be more evenly split.

  • On the other hand, I’ve definitely slowed down on my Tumblr reblogging as I’ve gotten busier writing and researching for my fic ideas.

That’s it for this month. Feel free to share your general updates in the comments! This month, I encourage you to support AIDESEP, an organization in Peru that supports the rights of Indigenous peoples along the Amazon. It appears that you need a Peruvian identification number to support them financially through their website, but you can follow their social media accounts for more information about their actions. I also encourage you to support On the Rise, a Massachusetts community and Safe Haven for women, transgender, and nonbinary people moving through homelessness, and to follow Refugees in Niger, which brings attention to the Black African refugees protesting the neglect and human rights abuses they are facing in Agadiz. For more resources and organizations to support, please look here.

Hello, everyone! I hope your August went well! My updates for this month are below.

  • For better or worse, I was comparatively much more active on all of my Tumblr accounts. I think for most of them, you will need to scroll back at least a page to see my last monthly update. I’ve also been busy writing, especially for a few new fanfic ideas I have.

  • I went back and edited all of my websites’ bio sections to more closely align with my current thoughts and feelings. As always, I am an ever-evolving person, so my bios will certainly change again in the future as I grow and develop.

Thank you for reading my updates! I’m sorry they’re always so bland for this blog. Anyways, let me know your general updates in the comments! This month, I encourage you to check out the National Black Food & Justice Alliance, a coalition supporting Black self-determination and food sovereignty in the US. Additionally, The Okra Project is a mutual aid collective supporting Black Trans folks through food and housing security and mental health support. I also urge you to support the Rohingya Community Partners’ fundraiser to run a training program for Rohingya refugee youth and girls. For more resources and organizations to support, please look here.

Hello, all! I hope you had a good July. My updates for this month are shared below.

  • I actually reblogged things on all of my Tumblrs this month! I’ve also been inspired to write and edit more, and I even posted a new fanfic, which you can read on my Darcy Hongyue accounts.

  • I also ended up re-reading the “About Me” sections on my websites and realized I definitely need to update them. I wrote most of my bios back when I was a freshman in high school, and then edited them when I started college. I’m now out of college and working full-time, and my understanding of myself and the world has fortunately grown much since those days, so it’s time for website refreshes! Hopefully, I’ll get those done in time for my August updates!

Well, thank you for reading my updates! I’m sorry that my Darcy Directory ones are usually so dull. At this point, I’m basically writing these just for myself 😅. Anyways, feel free to share any general updates you have in the comments. This month, I urge you to support USCPR’s Water Is Life Gaza campaign, which is a Palestinian-led project that delivers clean water to families displaced by Israel’s ongoing genocide. I also encourage you to support Refugees in Libya, an organization advocating for refugees throughout North Africa and Europe. Finally, please support the Massachusetts Bail Fund, which is an abolitionist direct service organization that pays bail for those who cannot afford it. For more resources and organizations to support, please look here.

I can’t believe I’m already at my seventh monthly update! Time is going by so fast! My updates for June are below.

  • I got some writing done, and I’m starting to feel more motivated to write, so hopefully I’ll be able to post some of my writing soon!

  • I do have a couple of book reviews that I wrote a few months ago that I hope to have posted by my next update! Fingers-crossed!

Thank you for checking out my updates! Feel free to share any writing or general updates you have in the comments. This month, I encourage you to donate to the Sameer Project, a Palestinian initiative working to provide medical aid, supplies, and food in Gaza. Also, please check out ‘Āina Momona, a community organization working toward environmental health, social justice, and Hawaiian sovereignty. Thirdly, Hope Relief and Rehabilitation is a Sudanese organization supporting people with disabilities, particularly in the Nuba Mountains, where famine has been declared. For more resources and organizations to support, please look here.

I hope you are all doing well this May! I have shared my updates below.

  • Honestly, I did not get as much writing done as I hoped to due to a certain silly “hole” I fell into. See my HongyueG update for more details. 😅

  • On that note, I also did not reblog as much as I usually do. I wish that meant I spent my time doing more productive tasks, but alas.

Anyways, thank you for stopping by! Feel free to leave any general updates or writing updates you have below! This month, if you live in the US, I encourage you to contact your congresspeople to urge action regarding the ongoing forced famine in Gaza here and to advocate against cutting SNAP here. Please also review Saroyah’s Twitter list here for updated information regarding the continuing humanitarian crisis in Sudan. For more resources and organizations to support, please look here.

I hope this April has found you well! I have shared my updates for this month below.

  • I have created a Darcy Directory Neocities site and Wix blogs for all of my Darcy Directory accounts. You can find the links on my Carrd.

  • I noticed I reblogged more this month on all of my accounts than the previous two months.

Thank you for stopping by my updates! You are welcome to share your own updates in the comments. This month, I encourage you to support the Basandja Coalition, which lifts the voices of Indigenous and local communities in the Congo Basin, and FiveforFive, a collective fund for trans women in the UK. Also, please check out AILA’s immigration advocacy resources. For more resources and organizations to support, please look here.

Hello, visitors! I hope you are doing well this March! I have shared my updates for this month below.

  • As I mentioned in my Darcy Ridge updates, I have started doing my writing in the morning rather than waiting until after work. It’s been very nice starting the day off feeling inspired and creative.

  • Doing these monthly updates has also encouraged me to explore and follow more people on Tumblr. I try to make sure there are at least a couple of posts between my monthly updates, so it’s been nice finding some cool people on the website to reblog.

That’s my update for March! Thank you for stopping by and feel free to share your general updates or any suggestions you have for people to follow below. For this month, I encourage you to check out and support the Darfur Women Action Group which works to support survivors of the Darfur genocide. I also encourage you to support The Sameer Project, which supports families in Gaza, and Black and Pink, an abolitionist organization in the US supporting LGBTQIAS2+ people and people living with HIV/AIDS. For more resources and organizations to support, please look here.

Hey, everyone! I hope your February went as smoothly as possible! I am sharing my monthly updates below.

  • I finally posted my long writing updates post! You can view it on Tumblr and Dreamwidth. I apologize for leaving you hanging without any writing updates for over a year! Here’s to hoping I post another update before 2025 ends!

  • Doing these monthly updates has been great at motivating me to actually write, reblog, and post things so that I have news to share! I’m still trying to get the hang of these Darcy Directory ones since they are supposed to be more general.

Thank you for checking in on me this month! You are welcome to share your general updates and writing news below! This month, I am encouraging you to support the Abbasiyyah Kitchen in Sudan, an on-the-ground initiative working to provide clean water and food to residents in Umdurman. Their campaign ends in five weeks as of the time I am posting. You can also check out Saroyah’s thread on Twitter for more Sudanese initiatives to support. Additionally, I recommend We Have Rights’s video series for more information on how to defend your rights during encounters with ICE. The videos are translated into multiple languages. For more resources and organizations to support, please look here.

Remember when I used to do these every week? I can't believe it's been over a year since the last time I did one of my big writing updates! Anyways, I hope you are all hanging in there and finding the motivation and community you need to survive and thrive. I have started doing monthly updates though for each of my accounts, so keep an eye on those to know what I've been up to!

Hello, everyone! I hope you had a good start to your New Year! You can read my January updates below.

  • Unfortunately, I procrastinated this month and I have not shared my latest writing updates yet. I plan to get to that very soon! I have a couple of poems and a short story I will be sharing.

  • Just sharing a note that I have added “monthly updates” tags to all of my Darcy Directory tumblrs and dreamwidths, so you can access all of my past monthly updates there.

I wish I had more interesting things to share this month, but not much has been happening for Darcy Directory that I haven’t already said in my other updates. I would love to read your general news and writing updates below! This month, I am suggesting you turn your attention to Sudan Coup’s list of verified grassroots fundraisers, AfroPunk’s spreadsheet of gofundmes to support people displaced by the Los Angeles fires, and the Aquinnah Cultural Center in Massachusetts. For more resources and organizations to support, please look here.

Hello! I am now doing monthly posts that will share general news along with any announcements regarding my writing updates. These posts will not replace my longer writing updates.

  • I have updated all of my profile pictures for my Darcy Directory accounts except for Zhilan Ridge. The pictures are all digital art pieces I created back when I was still fooling myself that I wanted to be a visual artist 😅.

  • Additionally, with Cohost shutting down, I have migrated all of my accounts to Dreamwidth. You can find the links to all my Dreamwidths here. I will mainly be using Dreamwidth to post my writings and monthly updates, but feel free to shoot me a message!

Well, thank you for joining me for this update! I invite you to share your general news and writing updates in the comments! See you in January! Before you go, I urge you to educate yourself about, donate, and support these organizations who are doing important, although unfortunately needed work in and to support Palestine and the Democratic Republic of Congo: Operation Olive Branch’s mutual aid list, Friends of the Congo, Focus Congo. For more resources and organizations to support, please look here.

Additionally, I have spent time reviewing the Social Justice/Mental Health Resources list and making sure all the links still work. I added a couple new links, too.

This is a good post from Palestinian American photographer Adam Rouhana about the importance of using photography to humanize people and communities and challenge harmful narratives that portray Palestinians as “masked and violent or as disposable and lifeless.”

Hi everyone! You can learn more about my tagging system below!

Journal rundown:

This journal - general entries, will have some overlap with each of the following journals

Darcy Ridge - creative writing-specific entries

Darcy Hongyue - general reading and fandom entries

Zhilan Ridge - siblinghood and storytelling-specific entries

Darcy Aisling - social worlds and adoptee experience-related entries

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I recently re-tagged a lot of my entries, so here is a little directory for this journal specifically:

Queue - everything I post except for my writing updates

Shared thoughts - entries where I share and summarize articles, resources, videos, music, etc. from outside Dreamwidth; will probably be related to general things that interest me

About - entries relating to information about me, my experiences/opinions/etc., or the journal; will try to keep it related to general things that interest me when possible

Monthly Updates - my monthly update posts

Writing Updates - where I summarize where you can find all of my new writing pieces and leave little fun facts about my writing

darcydirectory: Drawing of a person standing in front of a tree at night. (Default)

Journal Background:

  • I originally created this journal to share links to my various writing endeavors in one place and while it still functions as such, I am branching out more in what I post to include other things I am interested in, therefore, in this entry, I want to clarify what potential viewers can expect from this journal

  • I am an adult and will occasionally be posting things related to adulthood and adult themes

What I will be posting:

  • Check out my Tags Masterlist to see a breakdown of my tagging system

  • As I stated above, this journal was originally created to share my writing updates, so you can expect the occasional self-promotion of my essays, books reviews, fanfiction, novellas, short stories, short screenplays, and poems

  • In this journal, my non-writing update entries will relate to general things that interest me, so they will cover a wide range of topics from cool art that came up on my feed to thoughts about life to think-pieces regarding identity

  • All of my entries, unless I have tagged them otherwise as NSFW (not-safe-for-work), will be non-graphic and/or SFW (safe-for-work) besides the occasional swearing

  • I will occasionally post things related to current events and politics as a left-leaning person, so if that makes you feel uncomfortable, you are welcome to block me

  • At the same time, please don't take my occasional entries on current events/politics to be representative of everything I am doing or believe regarding a particular issue; of course, I'm not perfect and I have my blindspots, but I have a life outside of Dreamwidth and if I post something about a particular topic here, it does not mean that I am ignoring other issues or not doing other things to support particular movements in my life outside of Dreamwidth

  • I like talking about my identity, particularly as an adoptee, as such, you can expect some content on that topic; once again, if that makes you uncomfortable, I do not mind if you block me

Notes about NSFW tagging:

  • In this journal, I will tag entries NSFW if they describe or show sex, violence, gore, severe wounds, nudity, slurs, and pornography in extremely graphic detail

  • For me, non-graphic means that entries can still mention directly or indirectly any of the above as long as it is not shown/described in extreme detail, so I still encourage you to block me if you feel uncomfortable

  • Just because I tagged something NSFW does not mean I believe the original entry to be bad; I am just protecting potential viewers who may be coming to my journal with histories and backgrounds I have no idea about

  • If you have questions, concerns, or suggestions regarding how I tag NSFW content, please send me a message; I am happy to discuss and listen

What I would appreciate from viewers:

  • Please do not repost my essays, book reviews, fanfiction, novellas, short stories, short screenplays, and poems without permission to other sites or copy and paste them into a separate Dreamwidth entry; you are, of course, welcome and encouraged to comment on them though if you choose to

  • If you’re confused about something I wrote or shared, I encourage you to send me a message; I am always happy to clarify and listen to concerns made in good faith

  • This should go without saying, but you don’t have to agree with me; it’s okay to comment on my entries with counter-arguments, ignore an entry I wrote, or, as stated above, reach out to me for clarification because like everyone else in this world, I’m not perfect and I am always happy to learn from different perspectives

  • On that note, if you are arguing with me that people of certain races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual/romantic orientations, religions, etc. don’t deserve to exist, be respected, or fight for their liberation or rights without any intention of listening to and learning from the perspectives of people from marginalized backgrounds, then I will not engage in dialogue with you; in other words, racism, xenophobia, sexism, anti-trans bigotry, ableism, classism, colorism, or any other form of bigotry will not be tolerated

  • Critical thinking is so important to me and I completely believe you do not need a college degree to take a few moments and think through context, emotions, evidence, etc. to make a strong argument and critique others’ (including mine!!)

  • Another thing that should go without saying is that you are welcome to block me if any of my entries make you uncomfortable; I don’t know your history and background and while I try to be sensitive in what I post, I know I’ll make mistakes without realizing it, so please do what you have to in order to protect yourself

darcydirectory: Drawing of a person standing in front of a tree at night. (Default)

Weirdly enough, I'm doing the name/username explanation of my "darcydirectory" account last out of my writing-related accounts! :)

Darcy comes from my given name and is from a namebook and was chosen because of its Irish origin and its associated meaning of “dark one” since I have black hair

Directory comes from the purpose of the journal being a "directory" to all of my other writing accounts and the fact it makes an alliteration with "Darcy"

Darcydirectory comes from combining "Darcy" and "directory" and is as straightforward as the purpose of this journal, which makes sense because this is the only writing-related account I have where I'm not posting my writing
